Design Confluence 2025: Celebrating a New Generation of Designers

The spirit of design, innovation, and fresh beginnings came alive at Design Confluence 2025, the second graduation ceremony of DOT School of Design, Chennai’s first exclusive design college. Held at the Hyatt Regency, the event brought together over 82+ graduating students, 50+ design recruiters, and 12 emerging fashion collections — making it a landmark moment for Tamil Nadu’s creative education sector.
Design Confluence 2025: More Than a Graduation Ceremony
Design Confluence is not just a convocation. It is DOT’s annual showcase of student talent, an industry meet-up, and a gateway to design careers. This year, it witnessed participation from graduating students across Fashion Design, Communication Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design, and Visual Arts. Families, mentors, and design professionals gathered to celebrate this important milestone in every student’s journey.
Industry Leaders Grace the Stage at Design Confluence 2025
The convocation ceremony was presided over by a distinguished panel of guests including Mr. K.V. Ramani, Founder and Chancellor of Sai University, Mr. Sekhar Mukherjee, Former Director at the National Institute of Design, Mr. C.K. Kumaravel, Co-founder of Naturals, Mr. Peter Langford of Avironics, Mr. Nikunj Panchal, Associate Vice President of StartupTN, and Mr. Satish, Founder of DAC Developers. The dignitaries awarded certificates to the graduating batch and applauded the creativity and resilience of the new generation of designers.
As part of the celebrations, 14+ young achievers were specially recognised for excellence, and 15+ students received awards for creative merit. The ceremony reflected DOT’s belief that design education must not only nurture skill but also inspire leadership, empathy, and innovation.
DOT Career Connect: A Recruitment Drive at Design Confluence 2025
Running parallel to the convocation was DOT Career Connect, Tamil Nadu’s largest design-focused walk-in recruitment drive. With 50+ companies from across industries like fashion, architecture, UI/UX, communication, and interior design, the event enabled graduating students to present their portfolios, attend interviews, and secure jobs and internships — all on the same day. This initiative by DOT’s placement cell is redefining how design graduates connect with real-world opportunities.
Spotlight 2025: The Fashion Runway at Design Confluence 2025
Later in the evening, the spotlight shifted to the runway with Spotlight 2025, DOT’s signature graduation fashion show. Hosted by popular anchor Swapna and directed by celebrity stylist Karun Raman, the show featured 12 graduating fashion designers, each unveiling a distinct collection that reflected their individual design sensibilities. From textile innovation to bold storytelling, the runway was a powerful statement of emerging fashion talent.
Industry Collaborations and Sponsors at Design Confluence 2025
Adding further excitement to the evening was the Spring-Summer 2025 collection showcase by Derby Jeans Community, presented in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Model Association. The fashion showcase brought professional finesse and industry relevance to the event and gave students a taste of the commercial fashion world.
Design Confluence 2025 was supported by a strong network of collaborators. Thangamayil was the Title Sponsor, Boom Cars the Power Partner, and Naturals the Grooming Partner. The media partners included Provoke Magazine, IBC Mangai, and Provoke TV, while support came from organisations like Co-optex, Derby, TNMA, Exnora, Tula, Sadhabishegam, and Guna Foods.
