One Year Course

Undergraduate diploma in Fine Arts (Sculpture) is a program that enables the students to develop and enhance their skills in art and creativity. The course is framed in a non-semester pattern and is composed of core subject-related modules. The students go through extensive hands-on training in various mediums of sculpting and will explore different techniques that will help them discover and develop their own style. Apart from learning the different techniques, they will also be trained in developing creative artworks and compositions, so as to equip them to use these acquired skills as a medium of their creative expression.

A student with a UG diploma in Fine Arts - Sculpture from DOT can find opportunities in the art studios, exhibition design studios, set design for film and theatre, ceramic and pottery studios. Apart from this, good knowledge about the subject, along with commendable skills can equip the students to work as freelance designers and handle independent projects like commissioned mural art, model making and souvenirs, installation and art decor, and so on.


This course provides students with a holistic understanding of tools, techniques, and methods involved in the process of sculpting. What is the eligibility for joining a one-year UG diploma course in sculpture making?
The students are required to possess the following minimum qualification to be able to pursue a UG Diploma in Fine Arts (Sculpture). In addition, one needs to pass the DOT-DAT (Design Aptitude Test) to be eligible for admission. Know more details at https://www.dotsod.in/ admissions/.

What is the Selection Criteria to Join UG Diploma Fine Arts sculpture in DOTS?

DOT School of Design conducts DOT-DAT (Design Aptitude Test) applicable for students interested to start their Design education at DOT. DOT-DAT comprises two levels –

  • Written Examination :
    Round 1 - Creative Quotient Test (CQ Test)
    Round 2 - On Table Test
  • Portfolio Submission

Is there a language of instruction in Tamil?
Due to personalized teaching methodologies, the language barrier will be broken due to the use of regional & common languages such as Tamil, English, etc. Students are encouraged to improve their flair for the English language before the completion of the course to present their illustrations to an international audience, but it is not mandatory.
Who are all suitable for a Diploma in Fine Arts(Sculpture) course?
Any candidate with a keen interest in developing his/her/their skills in fine arts & aims to pursue a specialization in Sculpting are suitable for this course. Through the Diploma program, the students gain the skills and the industry connections required to kickstart a lucrative career in the Fine Arts Industry. Yes, you can pursue a one-year diploma course in Fine Arts(sculpture) after the 10th standard.
What is the fee and are there any financial assistance programs for the students?

INCO - Industry Connect, which facilitates the students to directly interact & work with the industry professionals.
IRC - Incubation Research Centre, where the students are given 360° guidance to start up their own practice and to be entrepreneurs in this effervescent field.
Fablab - A fully equipped high-tech workspace that is accessible to the students as well as to any designer from the industry. The designers can also enlist the students as interns for their projects.
