UG Diploma in Photography is a one-year program for individuals from various backgrounds of education who have their interests and skills in the field. The course is framed in a non-semester pattern, striking a fine balance of theory as well as practicals. The curriculum is custom-made to encourage the students to explore the diverse media domain and have a cross-disciplinary approach to the medium. Apart from the techniques and technology, the students will also get exposure to the varied specializations in photography such as street photography, fashion photography, product photography, creative photography, photo-journalism and many more.

Skills Required For Fashion Design

DOT provides ample opportunities for creative minds that have an affinity for fashion. We offer B.Des in Fashion Design, a four-year undergraduate course that deals with the basics of fashion, colour, design, sketching, material procession, and so much more.

A student with a UG diploma in Photography from DOT is well equipped to practice on their own as an independent/freelance photographer in fields like Wildlife Photographer, Sports and Event Photographer, Documentary Photographer, Wedding Photographer, Commercial Photographer and Film Set Photographer. Apart from this, they can find employment opportunities as a Photo sub-editor, Photojournalist - Newspaper, News Agency Photographer, Magazine Photographer, Photo Researcher, Photo Retoucher, Archivist, Stock Image Creator, VFX - Digital Photo artist, Photo Gallery Manager.

What are the Selection Criteria to Join UG Diploma Photography in DOT?

DOT School of Design conducts DOT-DAT (Design Aptitude Test) applicable for students interested to start their Design education at DOT. DOT-DAT comprises two levels –

  • Written Examination :
    Round 1 - Creative Quotient Test (CQ Test)
    Round 2 - On Table Test
  • Portfolio Submission

I am a self-made photographer, am I eligible?
Yes, every candidate who possesses the minimum qualification as mentioned in the table below is eligible for appearing for the DOT-DAT entrance examination. The minimum eligibility qualification for pursuing a UG Diploma in Photography is -
  • MODE OF SELECTION - DOT-DAT(Design Aptitude Test) & Portfolio Submission
  • PREREQUISITE/ELIGIBILITY - Successful completion of 10th std / Secondary school
Will the language of instruction include Tamil?

Due to personalized teaching methodologies, the language barrier will be broken due to the use of regional & common languages such as Tamil, English, etc. Students are encouraged to improve their flair for the English language before the completion of the course to present their illustrations to an international audience, but it is not mandatory.

What is the fee and are there any financial assistance programs for the students?

For this diploma program, the fee of the entire course is Rs.75,000/-. Deserving candidates from underprivileged backgrounds are eligible for Scholarships through our outreach program, the CLAP initiative. Click here for more details.

Fablab - A fully equipped high-tech workspace that is accessible to the students as well as to any designer from the industry. The designers can also enlist the students as interns for their projects.
