TWO YEAR COURSE

The two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Textile Design allows students to have an in-depth knowledge and exposure about the global textile and fashion industry.

TEXTILE DESIGN AT DOT!

The course is centered on understanding the design and aesthetics values through exploring various mediums and techniques such as weaving, printing, surface embellishments, fabric manipulation and non-woven fabric construction techniques. With a good understanding about the textile heritage of the country and strong support of industry-oriented training, students will get to explore varied areas of application, such as apparel, accessory, home furnishings, color and surfaces, and the wide expanse of handloom and handicrafts traditions of the country. The curriculum is designed so as to equip students to develop creative and innovative design solutions and have a successful career in the field, whether it is as professionals or as independent practitioners.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

A student with PG diploma in Textile Design from DOT has career opportunities spread over a wide range of areas, such as fashion and apparel, furnishings and Interior, print and surface design, color and trim design, and the handloom and handicraft sector. A Textile Design graduate can find employment opportunities with top fashion designers, Indian and international fashion labels and retail brands. Textiles being India’s second largest industry, and having a significant export presence, a textile designer can find employment opportunities with export houses and the mill sector. The wide spectrum of craft traditions provides multitude opportunities for a designer to showcase their creative abilities by engaging with the craft sector, either as an empanelled designer or as a freelance designer. A student graduating this course will have a holistic and market focused understanding about the creative aspects of the course that enables them to be an independent designer and entrepreneur or even a textile artist.
